will it taste of raspberry creme,
flow from rose-tinted lips whispering sonnets?
If purple, will it be tart like a Saskatoon berry,
scented like frosted lilac or a wisteria tree in full bloom?
scented like frosted lilac or a wisteria tree in full bloom?
As comfortable as faded blue linen,
blue patchwork quilt, or a distant horizon mid-day?
Cool and refreshing as a coral reef, sweet as peach preserves,
or free and determined as wild salmon?
Smooth as bourbon butterscotch, refined as amber,
exciting as a piece of eight?
Cloaked with comfort like morning fog,
a rich Highland or Somerset grey?
(think Scots or Englishman - I’m all about an accent)
Maybe Celtic and Parisian green (see above)
or calming as meadow sage and wheatgrass?
Perhaps red - hot kisses beneath scarlet maples
or beside gooseberries on a woodland path?
If passion is pink, is it as delicate
as a Victorian rose?
What color will you choose
as you nibble upon your lover's ear?

My goodness!!💖 This poem is a whirlwind of color and passion, Margaret! Especially love; "Perhaps red - hot kisses beneath scarlet maples or beside gooseberries on a woodland path?"😊
I love the descriptions. I think I was lost in the amber and bourbon butterscotch. Like getting drunk on colour.
There is so much colour in your poem, Margaret! I love the alliteration in the title, as well as the idea of passion tasting of raspberry crème and purple being tart like a Saskatoon berry (that’s Joni Mitchell country, which makes it even more special for me)! I also like the comfortable faded blue linen and the morning fog, a rich Highland or Somerset grey.
I really enjoyed this exploration of color and creative questions.
Oh, I love this exploration of passion through color. Purple is my favorite color, but on this passion palette I can't choose a favorite color. Excellent! Thank you so much for taking part in the prompt!
My goodness the colors explode in this. I always think of pink as a passionate color so I am glad to read this!
I love the way you expressed this image Margaret. Some of the colors you chose were wonderfully exotic. I have a book entitled “The Secret Lives of Color”. It couples fascinating stories with a multitude of colors and hues. Many of the colors covered in that book are most unusual.
A beautifully realized colour spectrum of passionate scenes.
"Smooth as bourbon butterscotch, refined as amber,"
Love this line, and the entire poem, Margaret!
