Felis Catus

Felis Catus

I can be charmingly coquettish
to win admiration and affection
so you'll treat me like a queen.

And when in repose, I stretch,
soft paw touches your arm,
I could just as easily scratch you,

take your hand between my teeth,
tear it to shreds (why do you think
Fido's so afraid?),

and my blink you see as love,
not a hiding of the feral tiger
that resides inside.

Yeppers. Cats can be that way. Rub up against you purring and biting you you the next minute

So very true Margaret! Those cats are smart little creatures, both lovely and cunning and truly capable of doing some damage, more than just scratches to the couch. :-)

Cats are warm, gentle, affectionate — and most are always on the edge of homicide... just ask the birds and furry things in your back yard Margaret. But they are great when they are restraining themselves as part of their eternal negotiating! :-) Loved our cat Taja, and loved your piece here...! :-)

Yes, cats can go dark real quick. Love your dip into darker poetry. :)

They are unpredictable! I enjoy my friends' cats but this is why I go for dogs myself; I understand them and can reasonably predict what they'll do in a given situation. Cats might rumble with pleasure or attack, who knows?

Interesting--we read into behaviors either what we want or fear...but what lurks in the touch is perhaps something wildly different. :)

Ready to turn on a dime. Dogs always believe you, cats ponder.
