Acrylic painting by Margaret Bednar |
Pink painted toes sink into buttercream sand,
white paint flakes from Adirondack
as ocean's sapphire sweeps my skin.
Swear I'm living within a sonnet,
a poem lovely as a first kiss.

This poem will be linked to a challenge in the near future but I have written it early as I will be on vacation ... Hopefully replicating a day such as this!
I wrote this early as stated above... here is the link to the challenge: "Imaginary Garden with Real Toads - Micro Poetry - A Poem Lovely As"
The line "a poem lovely as" was our departure point from Joyce Kilmer's "Trees".

Oh good heavens, this is gorgeous. I've read it three times. "Buttercream sand" is a divine phrase.
How nice to be living inside a poem! Love that idea.
This is so lovely - the painting, the beautiful poem.....enjoy every minute, living within your poem!

A gorgeous first-kiss-lovely poem, Margaret. I love the fine detail of:
'white paint flakes from Adirondack
as ocean's sapphire sweeps my skin'.
Oh this is wonderful. Living with a sonnet with pink toenails decorating the buttercream sand. Lovely.
a moment captured in words, and paint, but most importantly, the impression in your mind, and our minds ... and it's most delightful ... I can almost here the water shushing ...
Swear I'm living within a sonnet,
a poem lovely as a first kiss.
How nice to remember those times of innocence. It was when little things mattered most with such sheer thrills!

Ah, and that sounds like a beautiful sonnet to live in. Enjoy!
wow! so beautiful and dreamy poem.
I'm glad your writer (you??) remember that first kiss. I remember a lot but not that first kiss. It may have been with my first grade girl friend, we were pretty cozy. I also like the washed up snowflakes.
