Frank P.
His dark hair would slide across his forehead
as he concentrated on bankrupting me,
my get out of jail card long gone
and half a board away from collecting $200.
Wouldn't survive past Pacific Avenue
let alone Boardwalk unless I got lucky
and landed on Chance.
The little dog was cute; about all I had
going for me... Well, if I'm honest,
I had his smile, his dark eyes,
and two hours of Saturday afternoons.
He'd claim to be the winner,
but I say we tied.

I absolutely adore this!💞 I remember playing this game and the blissful hours that followed.. sigh..☕
I can see those dark eyes. Reminded me of my first crush. Sigh.
We played epic long games of Monopoly.I always had the boot.Evocative writing.
A tie is as good as a win
I love how you tied memories with this game. Enjoyed this!
I'd play board games with my youthful crushes too. I recall a very spirited game of Trivial Pursuit I had once.
A lovely memoriy of games played and flirtations enjoyed. Fun, fun, fun,, would be nice to be there again :-)
I miss playing cards and board games. I used to play Scrabble with my husband but he's more into computer games nowadays.
I love the detail of concentration and the final lines:
'I had his smile, his dark eyes,
and two hours of Saturday afternoons.
He'd claim to be the winner,
but I say we tied.'
Yes, board games were fun. We were a family of "players." Clear away the supper dishes, and get out the games!!!
Nice one Margaret. Happy you dropped by my blog today. Good Monday
Much🌼love
I completely agree. In this piece, everybody wins...
Happy memory of a childhood crush. I've never played monopoly.
Oh I love the way you made your way of winning.... did he every understand though?
Brings back memories of hours of fun, Marge!

O too like Monopoly. It is hard to work up a game. Seems people don't like to lose anymore. There is a Children Mono poly now.
..
Not my game, but you do make it sound like fun.
