Sun frolics upon freckled shoulders,
hat forsaken, nose kissed,
sunblock so painstakingly applied in June,
tossed aside, tan lines a criss-crossed map
upon my back as I follow floral paths
of golden whorls and sprightly grass,
track mid-day sun with upturned face,
imitate songs and arcs of darting swallows,
arms outstretched, leap over split rail fence,
imagine flight as summer unspirals.

Such a glorious time of the year, Margaret.
Love those summer day memories you told of so well. You know what you wrote of is for children, been there exactly and more. Though hardly any board fences for me, ours were barbwire that we separated strands to crawl though. Arlene, Mrs. Jim , fell a couple of years going through a board fence and broke her hip. I was on the wrong side of the fence, ladies first, to catch her. Required a partial hip joint replacement.

I could feel the sun in this. Absolutely gorgeous writing, Margaret.
My goodness this is absolutely stunning! Especially love the idea of; "arms outstretched, leap over split rail fence, imagine flight as summer unspirals." Beautifully penned.
Sung like a lover true. Dream on...
That's a gorgeous Tarot! And that's a gorgeous Sun poem! Thank you for posting both.
Frolic-full piece. Perfect pairing.
