April
She's a tease,
rewards with hints
of lavender and lace,
receives eager fingers
with frosted slap.
She's a diva,
summons desire,
traces its tempo.
Birds start the chorus,
bees lend their buzz
as she lowers Spring's baton.

What does THAT stand for? 30 poems in 30 days! National Poetry Writing Month. A list of all the participating poets can be found on the website, HERE . Checkout Facebook and Twitter as well.
In celebration of NaPoWriMo2014, I will give away one hardcover book of my poetry and photography. I create my books using my Mac's iPhoto program and the quality is fantastic. I am compiling a new poetry book for this give-a-way and will showcase a sampling of it mid-month. I am pondering a title, but perhaps it will be "Seasonal Offerings with Sprinklings of Love".
Remember, you must SIGN up below in the COMMENTS in order to participate. I will draw names from a hat. Good luck and I hope you enjoy this month's poetry.

And no April Fools about it, either, even if she is a tease! :)
I like the frosted slap - a reminder that cold days linger into Springtime.
I love the frosted slap too. Hoping spring is here to stay. :)
Brilliant summing up of a fickle month. I see her here as a real woman, say in a Toulouse Lautrec painting, warding of admirers with a smack of her fan.
ah, direct that symphony of spring....nice personification margaret...yesterday actually felt like spring...
Yes, April--and her companion, early spring--are exactly like this!
So true! After a couple of days in the 60s here, it actually snowed! April is such a tease!
Like many of the other comments, I too like the frosted slap (not that I do like it when it suddenly starts to snow outside). Very nice and clear, yet poetically beautiful.
Just perfect for the first day of April, Margaret!
Happy day to you.
let it spring. :)
You are so right! She is a tease!
Yes, spring is a tease. Love "frosted slap.
ah i find that sprightly spirit present in the lines...lovely..
April joke is on us, it is snowing ever-so-lightly in Bend Oregon ... Beautiful poetry, Margaret!
Spring as a diva - I love it! She so is!!!!
So fun-I love this! She is a vixen for sure~ Stunning!
Be-e-e-autiful! I love the sound of all those long e's. Best of luck with your 30/30! I'm going for it too.
Best wishes, Margaret. I envy you, and might keep on until ... (tell you later).
Your conductor, the teasing diva, April, most often does a good job of getting things started. I like her 'showers'.
..
Ha! A very clever metaphor. Thanks. So great that you do the books. Glad to hear about that program as maybe it will be an incentive to do a picture book. In sure yours is gorgeous. K
She is a tease and diva but she is coming slowly here ~
Lovely pictures as always ~
and here I thought she was going to lower Spring's skirt :) ~
...leave it to a man. Ha ha
Too afraid of commitment to participate in NaPoWriMo2014 but I did love your poem and I do promise to keeping writing poems as they arrive at my doorstep. Boy am I glad April showed up here and there.
I want to win a book!
I would love to win your book, Margaret! Awesome!
How wonderful...I would love one of your books...what a treasure!
I want a book of yours for free! I too am plying my music to the baton of Spring.
I would absolutely love to be graced with a lucky name draw and the possibility of winning your beautiful book, Margaret. How generous of you...thank you!! ♥

I like this. The conductor signalling the start of spring's goodness. I'm into NaPoWriMo! Missed a few but faithfully doing it right now. Hopefully I'm lucky for your book. Thanks Marge!
