"A Bed of Roses"

A Bed of Roses

Orange marmalade's
the secret ingredient,
real bacon a treat,
maple syrup's drizzled
ever so lightly.

I don't usually
lick my lips in anticipation
nor stretch like a feline
catching morning's rays
as such things can spoil a girl.

Like last night's retreat,
nestled like a bird's nest
high above the busy street,
comfort downed and fragrant,
whirled, salted,
our bodies wrapped, tingling
inside terry cloth robes.

Such simple delights
overseen by smiling hosts
tending us like royals;

Sigh.  We'll be back.

This is for "Imaginary Garden of Real Toad's - Person's of Interest" a challenge presented by Herotomost.  We are to write about a special person we have met while on a vacation.  Well, I mixed it up a bit and wrote about a place.  I usually stay in hotels, but I just might have a thing now for B&B's.

I thought I glimpsed another person in there! But writing about a place you return to again and again is wonderful. Did you make the video as well?

I think I dropped some stress myself, simply from reading this! See, Margaret, you came up with something delightful, just as you always do.

I like the twist and am in sync with your love of the bed and breakfast feeling. Have spent a few nights in some extraordinary B&Bs and they certainly have a feel unlike that of a hotel and a resort. Makes me feel like going on vacay this instant....great writing Margaret and thanks so much for coming out.

I don't travel much, whenever I do I stay with friends or family, the comfort is different.

I like it, especially the nostalgic way you end it.

Kisses. <3

there is something decadent and pleasing to treat yourself while traveling... it is all part of the appeal of going somewhere either new or a favorite... great write you have inspired me to treat the two of us... :)

sensual; lingering, like a fingertip on a lip

and I was a total dork in high school, and college, and rarely if ever had the gumption to sweet talk any girls or women, Miss Margaret, even after that, to reply to your jibe about me being a sweet-talker. maybe once, or twice. :) ~

Some of our nicest stays were at B&B's. Some we stayed more than once, very nice was Kilarney and then Crieff, Scotland. We still get e-mail from the lady at the latter.

I guess the best hosts leave a lasting impression, by not being part of your vacation but through their committed service to their guests.

A lovey glimpse of intimacy, the thing that nourishes our hearts, and laying down the stress that sometimes separates us. I cant get my husband to budge any more when it comes to traveling; I would miss it more if it wasn;t for poems like this.

Sometimes a good B&B beats everything else in the world. HA! I know.
