Poetry Pantry #152 "The Greatest Gift"

The Greatest Gift

Gentleness is
a gift far greater
than strength,

like filtered sun,
seeps bone deep,
settles the heart

and peace is born.

Oh, Margaret, this is just beautiful....both the words AND the picture. Makes my heart go pitter-patter! You are living my childhood dream...with horses.

Amen.
If only all over the earth people experienced (and therefore knew) this truth!

This is one of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen, and one of the loveliest poems. Gentleness "like filtered sun". Thank you for infusing my brain with beauty this morning.

Aprille - i just changed the word to "settles".

Thank you everyone. We got lucky as we don't see Oberon sleeping like this very often. It was very special.

You are so right, Margaret, gentleness is a greater inner strength than brute force. Beautiful lines for a beautiful pair.

Gentleness will go a very long way doesn't it? And your picture is the epitome of peaceful beings. I know the pretty horse didn't pose, problably not the young lady?

Thank you for your visit and nice comment. BTW, my "Hairy Hare" is a mama kangaroo with a baby in its pouch. Thus the 'hair-hare-roo' header.

The picture, so lovely, reminded me of Temple Grandin's love of horses and cattle, her gentleness.

It also brought to mind a passage: "But the greatest of these is love."

Margaret, in a handful of words, you conveyed the one way we could set right this entire world. Kindness. Amy
