IGWRTR's Open Link Monday & Poetry Jam "Pecan Caramel Apple"

MBednar iPhone

Pecan Caramel Apple

I inhale

caramel coating, pecan,
vanilla icing, sugar,
and chocolate drizzle.

Convince the young sales girl

an apple so crisp,
so plump, so round,

can be nothing but healthy.

Guiltily walk down the sidewalk,
glance over my shoulder
as I toss the uneaten apple,
licked clean,

my tongue busy
with the sweet taste of fall.

Yes indeed, so often we love things which are bad for us. Caramel apples in fall for sure....we love to hate these delicious autumn treats.

(Thanks for sharing with Poetry Jam.)

Simply delicious, Margaret! I have to admit that I've done the same thing a few times, feeling just a bit guilty for not letting my daughter do the same thing. :) I think my favorite that I've found is caramel and white chocolate rolled in Oreo pieces...insanely good! Really enjoyed this one.

I don't blame you--though I do feel a bit sorry for the poor apple. definitely a tasty poem.

Oh, how I love caramel apples, and I can't remember the last time I had one. To me, it's the apple that makes it -- the sour-y taste along with the sweet caramel --

If I have ever eaten anything that beautiful- I think I would remember!
The ghastly ruby coated apple -which
had my teeth shuddering for days;
disappeared into the OLD FAIR memories...Thanks!

...designer apples! That's funny. They ARE works of art. I DO eat the whole treat now, but when I was a kid I never did.

Caramel apples! I love them but I'm not faithfully mad about them now. Sweeties these days may be bad for health. Nicely Marge!

I remember making plain old toffee apples with my cousin, soon after rationing ended - they were magical things, then...

Yummy! I love the way this is structured.

Gorgeous photo, Margaret, and if it weren't for the Girl Guide cookies I just finished, it would make me drool. I could easily rationalize eating all the caramel and chocolate off the apple, because our dog loves to eat apples. Too bad for me, eh?
To say "I enjoyed this" would be redundant.

There couldn't possibly be anything bad with the chocolate-coated apples, Margaret. HA! And I love seeing your new banner every month. How fun. I love this time of the year!

LOVED this, Margaret. I wonder if those are Whole Foods confections.
