Poetry Jam & IGWRT's Open Link Night "A Prayer"

A Prayer

A gently curving, glorious hue
of saturated color, spins through the air
lands with a silent sigh,

one after another, sometimes together,
creates a splendid sight
not unlike a burst kaleidoscope.

I pause at the brilliance of this artistry,
admire the attention to detail
without compromising the whole,

and realize I am witnessing a prayer.

by Margaret Bednar  9.25.12

These photos are from last fall.  This is a challenge response to "Poetry Jam - Take a Much Closer Look".

I have also linked it with Imaginary Garden with Real Toad's "Open Link Monday"

...and what do you know.  I created a Friday Flash 55 spontaneously - go to take a look where all the fun is on Fridays! (or Thursday's after 8pm)

Here is a perfect post as we enter into the fall season. Your poem describes the falling leaves in a beautiful way and your photographs, as always, are just gorgeous.

It is a gift to be able to feel the spiritual connection to the natural cycles of our environment.

I love the whirling journey that you give to the leaves, then realize that the movement is a prayer. Reminds me of the cosmic dance. Lovely.

I LOVE it that you were witnessing a prayer. Stunning photos too. And I cant believe you hit a perfect 55 without even trying. How cool is that?

Whether in mature or in art, the attention to the detail and the letting go IS prayer (as is this poem). I witness!

Gorgeous photos Margaret and I love the poem as well. We do not live where there is such a dramatic fall shower of colors but have seen it in the past. Really a magnificent thing. I will have to make a point of taking a fall trip for color!

I thought it was a bit early for the leaves to actually be down. We've got lots of color in the trees, but not much on the ground yet. I pray it stays that way a little longer.
