Nostalgia
She casts a glance
towards tomorrow,
determined chin
unmarked, untried,
her stance, persistent.
I gaze with yearning
towards yesteryear,
marvel at how
delicately carved
within my womb she was.
This ache of motherhood
I hold dear, reflect
all is as it should be,
her profile, a precious
cameo I cherish,
an accessory
I hold dear.

Lovely photos and poems of memories. We are so lucky to be able to hang onto those mom memories. Your daughter is beautiful.
Very beautifully written !!!
Such beautiful poem and photographs..
"all is as it should be,

I hold dear." How these photographs must bless you. They are a treasure that grows in value with each passing year.
you have done your job well as a mother if your daughter is ready to set off on her own.
your daughters are beautiful! i love the photographs you take with the two of them together.
♥
The two photos are of my oldest daughter. One girl. :)
smiles...this is beautiful margaret...as is she...delicately carved within your womb, love that...a piece of living art surely....
Beautiful poem and photographs. I like that she looks toward to future and you cast a look at yesteryear. And you both MEET in the present.
Reading your poem makes me think of the way my own mother looks at me sometimes. Thank you for this lovely little gem!
She has grown up to be a lovely lady ~ How fast time flies, we hold these moments close to us ~
oh, how sweet.
It is too sweet to see the determined set of the chin, the perfect profile of the babe so perfectly preserved in the young adult. You words cannot fail to touch a mother's heart.
Grace... time flies SO fast! Truly, a blink. But then, every parent comes to know that.
Kerry - yes, that chin, that nose is perfectly preserved... nice eye!
Thank you, everyone for your wonderful comments.
She's beautiful! I totally relate to this.
A beautiful poem for a beautiful girl! Every mother can relate to this.
so wonderful together--words, poem, portraits--accessory rather understates it, doesn't it? I think that's your point. Precious.
You brought it all home for me, Margaret ... the dance recitals, the flute performances, gymnastics, first proms .... magic memories. (I did pony tails too - that's about it)
Determined and beautiful words!
