The Mag #130 "Why?"

Why?

Voided life,
polished.

Reverberating
echoes,

forever seeking
an answer

to "Why"?

by Margaret Bednar, Art Happens 365, August 12, 2012

This is for "The Mag #130".  The artist, Francesca Woodman, committed suicide at the age of 22.

You have asked the unanswerable question. Well done.

Marge,
The elusive answer is forever a question! Good thoughts!

why it seems is the eternal question...and one we are often unable to answer, this side of tomorrow...

Suddenly I thought of that age-old quote: "Ours is not to question why; ours is but to do or die." Or something like that. (sigh)

Why, is so deep of a word to explain isn't it? Lovely response to this piece, hauntingly fitting.

Your poem is lovely, stark, spare .. gets to the essence of her photography.

(I also wondered about today -- the meds we have to combat depression)

There was certainly more than one 'Why?' question linked to this Mag image...Well done for voicing one of them here. :)

I like that blended the photograph with reality. This seems to me to be a very creative approach to the prompt. Very meaningful, Margaret and thank you for sharing.

Obviously the photographer, Francesca Woodman never found the answer to why either. Instead she jumped from her loft window to her death.

And now your poem asks why.

Why... seems Francesca isn't the only one asking that question. Don't we all? The difference is in the acceptance of non-answers, I guess. Or moving on if the answer isn't to our liking... as is often the case. Huh... just a disturbing life story, hers is.
