A Doomsday Promise
Hold my hand, innocent one,
and I promise we will
skip down the dark, watery path
no longer intimidated by tomorrow,
frolic upon the edge of time
and leap over eternity's threshold
loving,
laughing,
living
our lives beautifully 'til the very end.
The prompt at Imaginary Garden with Real Toad's "Out of Standard with Izy" is a heavy one, with a twist. Write about Doomsday, but cast aside the doom and gloom. I almost didn't attempt this, but then started to ponder a movie that has never left me... Life is Beautiful It is a movie I highly recommend.

Hopeful and yet dark, a promise that is either threatening or promising - either way it is totally awesome!
Margaret,
Your words brought tears to my eyes. I will cherish this gift ...
Beautiful. So few lines, and yet so difficult to pick a favorite, but I have to say I love the first and last. Just perfect.

Totally love this--now that is the way to live one's life!
Yes, that pure true love that resides in the relationship between child and mother...priceless...just the note I'd want to end on also.
Well done, Margaret!!
we will
skip down the dark, watery path
no longer intimidated by tomorrow
I am so glad you participated in my prompt, this poem is gorgeous. Stellar work. Viva la
Very nice wishes! Something to keep in mind for sure. k.
I love every line in "A Doomsday Promise. It shows a mother's strength.
"frolic upon the edge of time"
I feel this edge. I know the movie "Life is Beautiful." I commend you, truly, and all caretakers who say cheerful for the children. If the end is inevitable, it is the only worthy promise.
And then there is "The Road." I read the book and haven't subjected myself to the filmed images.
Ahh yes... if you love and have love, you have no fear because, you know there is nothing to fear. Wonderful write :)

The effect of the photo is amazing - it gives me chills to see the little one holding his protector's hand, and the words capture the moment perfectly, more hopefully than I would have thought possible.
I haven't seen that movie. I like the picture you used!
beautiful. you touched your subject with soft grace.
"Live, Laugh, Love" ... you can find those three words scrolled all over the place. there is just something about the that makes me feel "light" for lack of a better word. they fit quite lovely in making doomsday seem light and fluffy.
It is the little innocent ones we all want to protect from such a horror as doomsday. But they will be the lucky ones I guess, with nothing to confess :)
