If I acquiesced, Disney "electrified"
would grace our home's interior:
Mango Tango in the kitchen,
Razzmatazz in the bedroom,
Electric Lime upon the ceilings.
When is it exactly
that we become attracted to
Almond, Cadet Blue and Maize?
Soothing versus exciting.
Why can't life be a bit of both?
Maybe I'll give it a try.

This is for Poetry Jam - This week's theme "Color Your Life" . I asked my 4 year old which colors he liked... I will see if I can work them in somewhere...

I saw a book about a house painted like you describe and always loved the idea of living with so much color. Alas, more standard decor ruled our house, but I still like the idea! Write on!!

I have actually had my walls quite colorful for a number of years. And I had FUN picking them out and painting them myself. Today I am painting the current house we live in and I have surprised myself in picking out what I consider neutrals. A soft grey-blue, and two buff colors. But I have done so as I want to give center stage to my artwork and the pieces of dark furniture I own. And I have never really shopped for bold pillows and accessories before...
So I guess I am mixing soothing and exciting a bit! :)
I like walls with bright colors too. My last house had a bright red kitchen and a bright yellow family room. I like it now that you are choosing neutral colors to give center stage to your artwork. That makes a lot of sense to me. Thanks for jamming again!

Fun and thought provoking poem. I remember the neutrals of the sixties, harvest gold and olive green. I got so sick of them and was alwyas bored by white walls. I love the freedom and range of color people are using in our homes today - don't have to follow one set of rules. I am looking at a forrest green wall as I write and the ceiling is still white.

Just finished my dining room. I painted it with Benjamin Moore "Yarmouth Blue". (light bluish grey) My black Hutch and antiques and paintings look amazing. I will photograph it some day and put it up here... Now I see why museums use grey to showcase their art.
Reds are too noisy for my ears! LOL

I was lucky enough to find a beautifully patterned couch recently . . . . . it would have graced any Electrified Disney lounge. Just joking!
