Magpie Tales #95 - "Almost"

Almost

Within sight, my dreams hover,
a new frontier of hopeful expectation
beckoning, "Jump in and swim!"

Fears and insecurities, long a crutch,
now banished as I round the corner
of youth and leap into middle age.

Undauntingly I embrace new opportunities,
my "freestyle stroke" much improved,
no longer held back, I feel young
and carefree for the first time,

Who knew it would take half a lifetime?

I guess we're at the point in our lives where we say, "What the heck?" and go for it!

This is nice, even my poetic concept on the above picture matches to your poem. One needs courage to step up and explore one's life :)

I love it! Yes, there comes a time in life when you are able to get beyond your anxieties and go for it! (whatever 'it' is)

If you're going to leap, middle age is a good place to land.

I like your hopeful spin on this claustrophobic photo, Margaret.

Nice to get a positive take on the photo. It made me quite claustrophobic.

Good one

But it always takes half a lifetime - even if you haven't got half, what have you to lose? Excellent poem.

Loved your take on this. Perfect, especially the last three lines:

"...no longer held back, I feel young
and carefree for the first time,

Who knew it would take half a lifetime?"

Right there with ya, Margaret!!
