Summer chores...
Do kids really do these?
Clean wood floors...
Impossible summer expectation!
July & August...
Hotter than June? Why did we move south?
Everything "fun" costs money!
Kids are "bored".
"Hold me Mommy...
I say "I don't have time".
A power outage occurred last night.
Family gathered, talked, laughed, and cuddled.
Perfect summer moment.
(...do you see the dust on that glass!?) ...it doesn't matter (I will say that three times and take a deep breath...) This summer has seen me being BUSY! My head hits the pillow and I am asleep in minutes - and that is not like me, I read books and usually have a hard time turning my mind off. The heat and "high" expectations of house cleaning have been making me crabby. With the lights out and the candles flickering, and everyone gathered, it was very peaceful. Held my "baby" boy and truly relaxed.
We must remember to turn everything off at times and just "chill". Be together. I think I will invest in a few candle supplies...
This if for "Friday Flash 55" (a story in 55 words) which I will link to at 8pm tonight.

oh good for you - a welcome change to the hurried, technology and noise-filled life!
I think there is a wonderful spirit to this post. Thank you for sharing your insight with us!
Less electronics and more family game night. He says as he ignores his family and types comments on blogs.
I may need to give this a try myself. The heat has been getting to me, too.
We tend to have internet glitches on the weekend, I sometimes wonder if our provider is trying to create family time for all those internet junkies.
ha love the stacato phrases and glad you got that moment when the power went out...it is always a fun adventure for us when it does...
Some things just happen for a reason don't they?
These are wonderful photographs Margaret.
I wish you a beautiful holiday weekend.
Sage advice Margaret Bednar!
Loved your 55 My Friend.
I'll be Chillin abd Grillin.
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Fourth of July
Love it Margaret!!
Great story, Margaret, and such a valid and important point-- something we should all strive for. Have a great 4th of July weekend. Mickie :)
I love this. I have only one kid and this summer, only a few weeks in, has me exhausted and my home in wreckage. Maybe an outage is a good idea. Maybe it's what we need.
The dust doesn't matter. It's the memories that count. Three cheers for a power outage.
Can't beat lamplight or candlelight...
wow.
beautiful insights,
cool 55.
That's wonderful. Maybe I could fix this to happen 'accidentally' at my house!
Great 55.
My 55 are here.
Ah yes, when families actually sat and talked to each other...in person, without electronic devices or power outages. :)
Nicely done!
I know it's hard to realize now, but those times pass soooo fast. Glad you got to slow down and enjoy a little.
