Gray beauty surrounded me yesterday. The warm air clashing with the cold caused mist to rise, creating a surreal atmosphere as one walked around our neighborhood lake. The above is for Black & White Wednesday - amazing I didn't use b&w film nor change it on the computer. This IS what it looked like.
One would almost think I was using b&w film if it wasn't for the green lilly pads.
I wonder what these geese thought of the snow and blast of cold after flying so far south to escape such circumstances!
This is our tail wagging, year-round resident duck (or goose?). He's not much to look at, but he is very friendly. Does anyone know what kind of duck he is?
Natural Sculptures. The above is for the Sunday Creative challenge. This week's word is "frozen". It is truly surprising that it is this cold in NC in December! As happy as we were to greet the snow, I hope snowfalls are few and far between. 43 years of "northern" winters is enough for me.

Patty Ann - it is fun to get out in it and feel the fresh crisp air - and put on the new gloves and hat... but it can drag on and on. And I hate the heating bill...
Carol - The day was so gray - really haven't ever seen anything quite like it before.
George - Those were my favorites too! I took the last because I remember what Ruth said about snow on her dried flowers and grasses and how much I loved looking at them in Michigan. Who knows, we might not get any more snow here in central NC, so I'm glad I took the time to take pictures.
The gray days of winter have their own beauty, Margaret, especially if accompanied by white snow. You have some gorgeous winter images here...for someone who has had enough of winter. :)
