Haiku - "Mother's Heart", 127, 128/365

Steadfast advocate
Undaunted, selfless and true
A mother's vast heart

This is day 3 of February's "Haiku Challenge."  The word prompt for today is "Mother".  Do you like this photo better in black & white?

The following photo and haiku are for "Write with Pictures" - Friday's Poetry (there are different prompts M-F)  The photo prompt is courtesy of Betty of "Photographing New Zealand" blog.  The photo is of a ship's "skeleton" but I couldn't help but feel that many people get to feeling this way as well.

Tired and disheartened
Self confidence eroded
Value diminished

And the photos below are what winter looks like in my neck of the woods. My heart goes out to Northern Illinois, Northern Indiana and Michigan (places I have lived) and all the places where the snow and cold are causing life to be difficult.

Even though it is sad, I love the ship's skeleton and your wonderful Haiku.
Your winter sure looks a lot nicer than ours. We got hit pretty hard with 23 inches of snow, and yesterday the ice, but I think it is passed now, or at least I hope so!! :-)
Beautiful shots!

Wondeful combination! I love the field and horses and am imagining that it would make a fantastic b&w.

Kenny, Forgetmenot & Rosie - Thank you!

LIsa - Most of my poems are so lovey dovey - I need to branch out into heartbreak a bit! :) I am a Northern MI girl (and Chicago) so I know exactly what kind of weather I am missing. Keep warm! I'd love to see some photos from you of snow covered trees!

Cloakedmonk - I think you are right. I might have to add a b&w under this photo - check back and let me know if you like it.

Oh, love these. The prompts, the pictures and the poem. Great job.

I prefer the colour version of your first photo. I also like the Ship's skeleton. Reminds me a little of beached whales (also incredibly sad), but something very poetic about things evolving and devolving and the circle of nature...

Both haiku's are wonderful and complement the photos beautifully. I prefer the color version, it shows the beautiful lush green grass that is knee-high to those horses. That must be paradise for them!

The photo of the shipwreck is quite moving. Amazing how it's melting back into nature.

Oops, I don't know why I put that apostrophe on haikus. I know better than that.

PattyAnn, Clare, Someone Special, and Dutchbaby - thank you. I have really been enjoying haiku poetry ... Searching for the emotion in a few words. I think I prefer the color photo of the horse photo because it has been so gray and brown here for a long time. And Dutchbaby, that farm had the most amazing view of Lake Michigan. Lucky horses indeed.

Where you live reminds me of where I last lived in Atlanta out in the woods (3 acres). I have so many happy memories of walking around and exploring in them with my now 10-yr-old grandson. He grew up in those woods. I'm guessing he'll never forget them. God knows I won't.

Bonnie - thank you! I do love photography, but so desire a newer camera. Haikus are good for me - teach me to really pin point the emotion in few words.

Ginnie - Well, central NC isn't THAT far from Atlanta... I bet you miss him - but what great memories - young children are so precious - I already am grieving that my littlest one is growing so quickly... :)
