Exalted
Exposed and naked
Arms uplifted as if
Pleading forgiveness
Reaching, stretching towards the light
Gnarled and bent with age
Each knot a tribulation endured
Soft green innocence fallen away
Life, seemingly prostrate upon the ground
A solstice curtain descends, embraced
Inner rejuvenation unseen
A fresh generous coat of sparkling white,
Blemishes erased, exalted by grace.

what a beautiful winter wonderland shot. I also love the word exalted, it signifies reaching great heights in dreams etc, I love your poem here.
your picture is breathtaking and the poem thoughtfully embraces the life of the a tree enshrouded in white.
thanks for sharing with One Shot - glad to have you here

I love the photo and your words complete a lovely piece of art.
I could never write a poem that did not begin with Roses are red...
So I will continue to just enjoy the wonder of yours.

my favorite bit
Beautiful picture and words.
OK, this poem I really love. It speaks to my heart. Thank you for sharing.
lovely...washed clean...a beautiful worship...nice one shot!
I thank you all for enjoying my "Exalted" poem. My breath has been taken away by the winter beauty - and the trees seem so dramatic her in central NC. Maybe it was too cold in Northern Michigan for me to linger and appreciate them! :)
A winter marriage of image and words. Lovely. Gay @beachanny
Beachanny, I usually try & respond to each and every person that visits here, but my daughter was in the ER today and I am short on time. But I must say, I visited your blog and WOW - Your poem "Texture and Image" is stunning! As are so many others. I look forward to visiting again soon.
A lovely and well written metaphor, Margaret. I love winter. I know you do too, and it's amazing you've been getting it in NC.
You made winter so beautiful...
Here is my one shot:
musical whirlwind
Gautami - thank you. I will have to try a "found" poem someday. You are the second person that I have seen do this and it is intriguing.
Ruth, the snow is all gone. I'd love to get one more, I think. If not to just hear the kids excitement. Although I hope it waits at least a week or so, as one of my daughters just had her appendix out - she would hate to miss the fun.
Inherently dramatic, in a nature-beautiful way. Effective.
Steve, thank you for the "inherently dramatic" compliment. I love it! :)
