Scripted

"My Story" by Karina Llergo (used w/ permission)
Scripted

Life is looped and slanted, scripted some say,
within God's eye long before we are born.

If so, He loves a mystery or at least witnessing my journey
of stutters and stops, chapters replayed,

reread, so to speak, longing for wisdom
from heartbreak, cliffhangers, melodrama,

in search of a place for my soul to take root,
drink life fully, unafraid of close inspection.

For isn't that what we do upon finishing our last line?
Decipher whether or not we fulfilled our purpose,

content with our story?

This is linked with "Imaginary Garden with Real Toads - Bits of Inspiration, My Story" and
"Poets United - Midweek Motif - Longing".

A quick interpretation of the image above and the word "longing".  Two prompts in one, about ten minutes of writing.  (Most likely this poem will be reworked a bit)

Thanksgiving is here as the family comes together today and we have the whole weekend to celebrate and miss those who couldn't make it home.

I wish you all who celebrate Thanksgiving a wonderful holiday and those who don't, I wish the same!

Margaret,

I like your review of life, perhaps its scripted journey, as God had intended. We are usually filled at some points, with an urge to change or improve that which we have been given..A longing might be where we seek to find that other place for our soul, to take root..

Happy Thanksgiving!

I enjoyed your poem and hope it will be a long time before you reach your last line.

Have a wonderful thanksgiving! Being content with our story is a lovely thing......bumps and all, it is what got us here!

At the end of our journey, have we fulfilled our purpose? Searching and longing - are these similar? Thank you for germinating these questions in me.

To live it and to read it at the same time is mighty hard, so I take little timeouts to read my life and ask if it's fully living. Of course, that's living, too, and probably in the script--which of us ask the questions, which of us don't. I enjoyed very much how this poem made me think.

So, true. Godb has ready chosen our path and we have to follow that path righteously.

There is a kind of peacefulness in the thought that our life is scripted. The prayer or 'longing for wisdom' does come naturally. Here the attitude to life expresses gratitude.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Beautiful, Margaret. I can see life being scripted as mine has generally bee guided by.opened doors that I have taken. Opened I believe by the Lord. The seven-forever-girl poem I just peeked at here, yours fits right in to follow it. A friend of mine I found out yesterday has advanced cancer of the pancreas which has spread to other organs and into his bones. He and his wife are taking steps to close his life here on earth. Rearranging his refrigerator. So sad, he is younger than me, a fellow deacon, and member of a care and share group that Mrs. Jim and I have taken responsibility to lead. And we are just about ready to be out of pocket for an extended time. That I couldn't have extended his life though might be a way to think but still I would have been around as a friend. Perhaps he'd have likened me as a Job-like friend? I think he will have died before I can see him again. He has followed his script better than I so his refrigerator stands fairly well arrayed.
Say a prayer for him and his BFF Mrs. Bill if you would please. None of us know when the play will finish, most don't know how it will end. Bill knows more that most for his.
And please have a Happy Thanksgiving. All but one of our kids and his kids and grands have left town so Mrs. J and I have plans to take a widow lady to our La Madeleine restaurant to lunch. Again, TMI, words kept coming.

I do love the thought of living your life as a script... though I hope at least to some extent you can hold the pen.

Life is definitely scripted- long before we are born. I love the existential feel of this.
