Beach Side in May

Beach Side in May

Kites flutter porcelain sky
with gull-like swoops and sways,
dart about as reggae competes
with Atlantic's rhythmic waves
and she-crab soup courts flavor of favor

this May day.

Finds Neptune, of pecs and sweltering gaze,
and me between heated sun and sand,
he with trident and I with pina colada in hand.
Painted toes I've to flaunt (painted pearly blue
to match the sky).  Wispy white bikini ...

not this May day;

alas not hours, days, or months,
but many years apart.  Piece of mind secured
with black, strapped and flowing.

Linked (very late) with "Imaginary Garden with Real Toads - Sanaa's Challenge - Such were syllables that possessed May"

and "Imaginary Garden with Real Toads - Just One Word - Apart"

This was written while I was enjoying the May sunshine on Virginia Beach a few days ago - it was nice but I do prefer a smaller, less touristy place.

"Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end..."
I liked this, Margaret. But I was wondering if it were you or your imagination or recall. The white bikini cinched it and then you told, (you probably) back in days now gone. I had to look the word up "pecs" (just saw google spelling help also is ignorant) but I remembered after being reminded. It fits the them perfectly.

BTW, I like your side bar little words, "Palm a poem as if fragile... Let them sink into your skin as if moonlight..." I hadn't noticed it before. Neptune looks pretty rough, his crabbing fork may be out of manufacturing period.

Oh ... I like the ache of a memory... nature might be just as beautiful but there are always changes that affects you.

I like the connection between the past and the present - how things have changed.

Carefree memories still entertain me, even though who I am now is different from the person who made the memory.

I love the aspect of "apart" you've embraced... Also, your description of Neptune brought the biggest of grins to my face.
