Blindness
We seek rare,
exclaim over exquisite,
admire abstract,
live for tomorrow,
insensible
to nature's simple gift
of a flower unfolding.

This if for "Imaginary Garden with Real Toad's "Friday Challenge - Life, Love & the Pursuit of a Really Profound Thought".
Have YOU ever enjoyed watching nature fully awaken? Have you done it more than once? Perhaps this is where peace truly begins...

So true...our eyes are blind to the beauty as close as our fingertips
i especially like insensible bringing it together.
beautiful wisdom...
couldn't agree more :-)
Forgot to say that I love your hollyhock. Wish I had some.
The simple profound things we miss.
So easy to overlook the significance of small things...
boy, that's the truth. well said!
very lovely and so true.
Just gorgeous.
indeed, gotta pay attention! as you do, of course. :)
i think this is what makes you such a great photographer--or what maybe distinguishes real artists and photographers from those, like me, who 'take pictures.' You capture your subjects at moments where they are unfolding something, conveying some essence...anyway, love your response to this challenge, Margaret. So simple, so completely accurate.
The common denominator ... what's really important in our lives. :))
Absolute perfection.
You are so wise, and so right!
The most beautiful are the simple gifts, unfolding under our eyes ~ Lovely message dear ~
If I was Emiril I would say BAM!!!!!!!! Wow that was a gunshot of a message in a small caliber pistol. I too am a true believer that we totally miss the millions of great things around us everyday in order to just live....it's crazy. Our kids grow, up the seasons change, the flowers bloom, each a miracle in itself....great take on this one....he'll yeah!!!!!
Wonderful. I am spending much more time in nature these days, and it has been very helpful. It is so interesting - my mother is 90 and takes a walk by herself to a park every day. It is one time - looking at birds and flowers, when she is completely in the present. Quite amazing. Thanks. k.
Gentle and yet strong. Very nice, Margaret ~ M
Oh yes, if we live for tomorrow, we miss the wonders unfolding today.
Beautiful.

To my mind, this is the best of profundity - a simple truth succinctly told in terms which inspire the heart.
So very, very true, Margaret, and the image is gorgeous.
