IGWRT's - A Birthday in April - Wordsworth "The Sea Turtle"

Sea Turtle at SC Aquarium, Charleston
The Sea Turtle

She's at peace
with ancient wisdom
a voyager, illuminated, solitaire
beneath moonlit skies,
drifting the jet stream,
content with the cycle of life.

by Margaret Bednar, April 7, 2013

This is for "Imaginary Garden with Real Toad's - A Birthday in April - Wordsworth".  My "little boat" of William Wordsworth thought to push off from and create a poem was:  A mind forever Voyaging through strange seas of Thought, alone".

And I wonder what sea turtles hold in their minds?

I love the way you brought that quote to life in the journey of the turtle. There is something so serene about a creature moving underwater. Thank you for sharing the sights of the aquarium with us. (I loved the jellyfish too.)

VERY beautiful poem arising from the quote. I love the thought of her, serenely voyaging.......

Those turtles certainly look content, don't they. I like where you took this quote.

I often think how alien it must be to live in the sea, a world where sight and sound behave so differently than they do for us. Here you manage to make it feel very natural and right. And the capture of light in that picture is a poem itself.

They do look content and at peace ~

Wishing you happy week Margaret ~

One of my favorite animals is the seat turtle; and I love its ancient wisdom. I have written a few poems about it as well.

I love the first line, and the last.
I also love the look of "ancient wisdom" of turtles and tortoises. They provide us with a contemporary look at worlds long past.
