IGWRT's Susan Says "King of the Hill"

King of the Hill

We continually search
for happiness, for meaning.

If only we were content
as is the barn cat,

needs met,
protected, warm,

content king
of his humble hill,

dreaming
of what he has.

I love it! The narrator entered the cat mind, psyche, etc, dreaming, enough said. MY cat to a tee, on her not so "humble hill." Lovely.

This is wonderful! Cats truly do know how to make any place their own comfortable throne.

You have given us a wonderful message here, Margaret. What a place to find contented rest! I shall think twice before complaining that my life is shitty!

Not a humble hill, Margaret: An absolutely magnificent compost heap, to outdo all other compost heaps anywhere.
Grteat envy and it must make your roses grow a treat.
Nice contrast with that immaculate tiny white kitten curled up in the best place on the estate.

I love this, Margaret. I agree with Kerry, we should be able to find comfort and joy no matter how our situations appear to others.

We should, indeed, learn to be as content. Wonderful lesson, pleasingly written, Margaret.

Great photo and good choice for comparison in the poem!

wonderful comparison Margaret ! Cats do seem to have a secret that we humans need to better learn and apply-- God always will keep me in his hand, whatever comes, he'll compensate.

Ah, to be a dog or cat == but without sense of self or desire to dig deep to understand and to expand. Ah, at what a cost. Oh the cost of a certain type of consciousness -- twas it worth it? Good puzzle
