Magpie Tales #142 & Friday Flash 55 "The Game"

Charis, Lake Ediza, California, 1937 by Edward Weston
The Game

Experienced?  I was not,
and I fell.  Hard.

I've scrambled up the mountain
of pain a few times

only to retreat for lack of oxygen
and bravado.

Better to survive, live to play again,
as this is a sport "for life"

and I'd much rather learn
to be the predator

than remain
passion's hopeless prey.

whew..its a shame we have to play either the predator or prey part...as if they were the only two options...is there another way?

Thank GOD there is, Brian ;) But not everyone figures that out...

We seem to have a similar take on this picture but your power of vision and word deployment leave me awed.

Lovely piece. Oh, those mountains of pain. Pity the doctor can't give us something for them....! *sigh*

i FINALLY found a partner and a healthy relationship where neither of us has ~ or wants ~ an upper hand. it's tough when that's not the case.
