IGWRT's -Ella's Edge - "Sweet Or Sour?"

Herbel Vinegar with Lavender - from Sunshine Lavender Farm

Sweet  Or  Sour

As you travel the path of life,
stop and savor the lavender
carefully storing a few buds away,

and sprinkle it upon acidic days;
for life is really a marinade
and we select

how sweet or sour the journey.

by Margaret Bednar, Art Happens 365, June 20, 2012

Here is an interesting link for vinegar and lavender.   Sunshine Lavender Farm is a farm in NC and I was fortunate enough to be able to photograph a day my daughter and I spent at their festival the beginning of June. I have yet to post my photos.

This poem is for the Imaginary Garden of Real Toad's "Ella's Edge".  We were to think of a message we would like to find in a bottle, perhaps a treasure map of life, or a bit of insight into life that might help someone else...

So true, Margaret. We do have choices in life...in how we view things, whether we view them as 'sour' or find a way to view them as 'sweet.'

I love what Ella said, about "the vibrancy of your blog." Yes, that's the word.

Certainly Margaret! It's all up to us to savor or to deny. We work it our way and 'marinade' it to our fancy. Great verse!

Your words are very wise, Margaret. I do love lavender, which I always have growing in my garden.

Have a wonderful vacation.

It is indeed all about how we choose to react, what we choose to grwo in the garden, weeds or fragrant herbs. Lavender is one of my favorites, one of the few plants that I still see bees on here, and its fragrance in this poem comes through. Look forward to your photos of the lavender farm--how cool to think of fields of it.

I used to love driving by lavender farms when I lived in the UK. The fields seemed to go on forever and their scent in the air was amazing.
Loved your prose and, it's a wonderful piece for someone to find in a bottle.

"life is really a marinade" just jumps out at me...our attitudes really do help affect how tough it can be. Beautiful!

I love how we select "how sweet or sour the journey." That would be a great message for someone to find just starting out, would definitely make the trip less angst-ridden:)
