She peers eagerly
into a future glistening
like a silken web.
Untangled dreams promising
romance, pristine adventure,
and happily ever after.
With eyes weary
I foresee an intricate path
of steep inclines,
shadows, perfidious divots
and remember how swiftly
one poisonous bite
can unravel
youthful enchantment
revealing a fairy tale
a bit more Grimm.

Shanyn's photo is beautiful. Oh, your poem--what can I say! It is totally awesome. I love the way your words flow together and the message you dwell on is oh so true and so well said. I truly do love this piece. Excellent and creative work!!!!! Mickie ")
I'm amazed how many totally different responses this picture elicited. I love the fairy tale twist and the end, and reminder that good girls shouldn't stray off the path into the forest. Fences are there for a reason. lol
What a great story for this photo, I love the way you wrote it. Very special. Thanks so much for sharing and being inspired.
"like a silken web.
Untangled dreams"
loved the picture my mind formed with the lines above
Oh I so know the feeling, watching a young one set out on a difficult path, foreseeing what will eventually occur, powerless to spare her........sigh. So well written.
Beautifully written, yet deeply satisfying.
A beautiful response!
Very nice, Margaret... I especially like perfidious divots.
The words are so fitting with that photo! Just lovely!
