I have had sick kids lately and hope to be around visiting and commenting soon...
A Miracle Envisioned
I'm a young, single lady
searching for a man.
(I admit it, reluctantly, secretly)
Not just any man, mind you,
I desire the man of my dreams.
('tis no small order)
Playfully, wistfully, I lean back
upon a bit of 1936 history
(how cool is that?)
designed by
Sir Giles Gilbert Scott.
(does not his name make you swoon?
Scrumptious word, swoon, perfect
for Savannah, Georgia)
commemorated for good ol'
King George the V, this K6 silver
"Jubilee" kiosk, cast iron red
wishing for a bit of luck...
(a touch of magic)
Can't help think of Superman;
I believe he'd be charmed
with my vintage dress. I look left,
look right, close my eyes,
envision royalty, a heroic man
taking my hand, kneeling,
professing his love at first sight...
(Hey a miracle could happen)

This is for Magpie Tales #105. Click on this link to see the photo prompt and the amazing poems and short vignettes created by this amazingly talented group of poets and writers. (The photo above is linked with this week's "The Creative Exchange".
This is also linked with Poetry Jam - This week's theme: A miracle we've witnessed... I tweaked it a little bit and changed it to wishing for a miracle ... hope that is OK. Linked as well with IGWRT's "Open Link Monday"
There were a number of kiosk (phone booth) versions made in Britian and the K6 was a bit smaller and had the glass front similar to this one.... but I could be wrong. For the sake of the poem, I went with it the 1936 (5?) version. We certainly had FUN posing here, laughing and commenting similarly as I wrote here in this poem.
Below is a link showing what some are doing with these kiosks (a bar, shower).

And here is a fun piece for Sensational Haiku Wednesday (this week's word is: draft)
Demurely dressed, poised
Drafting plans to catch a MAN
Heed her hidden claws!
and here is a photo of my "draft" horse - A Friesian Sport horse (which means 1/2 Friesian)... Sebastian.

Hey...it's for you, dear. A Mister Kent...
Love it, Fireblossom. I might have to rethink that into the poem itself!
envisioning royalty must be fun. i never tried that.
private dreamliner
Just LOVE the poem and the photos. Thanks for jamming; and may a miracle occur.
I still have a red phone box right around the corner from my house...! Sadly, it's not quite Superman that staggers out from it of a Saturday night.
ps...the girl in the pics is VERY pretty!
Enjoyed this twist on the picture prompt.
Such a lovely girl in your photos, Margaret.
Oh...how delightful!!! Is this in Georgia?
Thank you for the smile! :)
Delightful post!
Helena... go get a photo! :)
Evelyn - Yes, Glorious Savannah! ;)
Thank you ... it is a bit of a rambling poem... but it I think it reads like a teenage girl chats...?
Such interesting photographs and laid-back writing. Thank you for these.
(Sir G.G.Scott was the grandson of George Gilbert Scott, enthusiast for the Revival (or Victorian) gothic style, whose works included the main building of Glasgow University, and the St. Pancras Station hotel. Giles Gilbert Scott designed the rebuilt Houses of Parliament (Commons) bombed to destruction in WW2)
How cool is that!
What a beautiful girl Margaret, and this series of images is just gorgeous! Just my opinion, but I think some of your very best work. Certainly a favorite of mine.
Thank you so much for sharing with us this week at The Creative Exchange.
Have a wonderful day!
lisa.
DR FTSE - Thank you . I googled both and such stunning buildings!
Lisa - Yes, putting the Savannah GA scenes in B&W have breathed new life into them. Thank you. :)
An interesting 'mélange' way of creating and setting the stage for romance.
You/ your family, are imitating a young princess Di here- Wow! I have a small version of the phone booth-
that I gave away- it rings when you open the door!
Great photo's.
Your phone boxes win hands down, never mind the human accomplice! LOL :)
That is the coolest green dress--perfect man-entrapping attire, though these days I suppose it lacks tattoos and piercings enough. ;-) Love the composition of the photos and the satire in the verse. Good stuff!
They are indeed lovely photographs. The phone boxes (that's what we call them in the UK) look too well preserved to be in Britain? I'd love to know where.
Hedgewitch - she tried on a ton of vintage dresses and this one was the winner. (no man yet, :) and that's OK by me...
Lucy - Savannah, GA. I love that city.
I love the conversational attitude of your poem. I am so glad I am not the only one, with such a vivid imagination to think a wealthy, handsome, gentleman would come and sweep my off my feet!! Just delightful! Thank you for sharing. Loved the expressive sepia pic. It says so much. =D
I was up to the university when I visited Glasgow. Thanks for the background info.
Beautiful photographs.
Regards and best wishes
