A typical barn I pass here in North Carolina. I believe these tall, narrow barns once were tobacco barns. If you look closely, you will see just how close some hug the road. Across the street is a very nice subdivision, obviously it was once a farmer's field. I have linked this to Barn Charm #72
The photo below is not a tobacco field, but I thought this made a nice touch of romance for "Valentine's Day". This is not my husband, but my goodness, this makes farming look quite attractive! My poem below was written for a poetry challenge for this... image.

I agree with you that the barn was probably used for hanging tobacco back when it was grown all over the state. The barns are so nice and still in great condition. Nice fencing on wither side that adds a nice touch.genie

Being from NC as well, I think that is an old tobacco barn...We used to have lots of them where I grew up but not many left...I recently took a picture of one on the farm where my husband grew up because most of them are either falling down or have been torn down.....

I love the effect that weathering and warping have had on the exterior of that barn.
