Rural Thursday #3 "Mugshot", Friday Fences #21, IGWRT's "Haiku", & Friday Flash 55 "Guilty"

I BELIVE I FINALLY TURNED OFF MY BLOGGER "COMMENT VERIFICATION".  THE NEW VERSION WAS CRAZY.  PLEASE,  LET ME KNOW IF IT IS STILL ON.  I APOLOGIZE, I have NO idea why blogger has done this.  (If you use the new interface and want to turn "word verification" off (and you should as it makes responding very difficult - and I'm not going to respond for long to those who have it), on your dashboard page, click the gear symbol to the right of the "Save Settings" button, and choose the "Old Blogger Interface" setting, so you can go back and change it by using the "Settings" tab, and then the "Comments" link. After it's fixed you can switch back to the new interface.I hope this helps

Eagerness embraced
sun's soft warmth invigorates
confidence instilled

Nurtured no longer
life changing philosophy
tumultuous clouds

Suspicious bias
spring's playful romps, forgotten
expectantly still

The above is an "attempt" at a series of haiku for Imaginary Garden with Real Toads - Haiku with Grace.  I'm not that happy with these... it is HARD to do a traditional Japanese Haiku!

The post is linked with "Rural Thursday #3" AND "Friday Fences #21"... I'm being a tad lazy but I'm tired what with sick children and all...

and here is my quick, quick "Friday Flash 55" for this week:

Guilty

Life's eagerness and sweetness mingle with utter dependence
as the calf tugs upon the bottle teat.

Feeling a chill run down my spine, I glance over at his "big brothers".

A suspicious countenance has turned their once warm brown eyes to a piercing glare
and I feel guilty about the hamburger I just burped up.

I love that first closeup shot!
They look like they are all heading for you. I assume you are on the other side of the fence. :)

I've run into this verification a lot tonight. It is new and a pain. Sorry to tell you, but yes, it is still on.

Appropriate 55, particularly when done at speed, and lovely photos.

Verification is still showing, Margaret. I can't find how to turn it off in the NEW blogger dashboard. In the old dashboard turning VW off was a breeze.
Today's look like "thisvice" and "Gihon" I'll give it a go!

I love your calves, and the haiku are very thought-provoking - something to wrap the mind around.

Great shots of rural life...sweet to see the baby calves!
Hope you can figure out how to turn off word verification...it really is not needed!!!

Is my word verification on or off... I thought I successfully turned it off... ?

Brian Miller said...

it is off...

ha, yeah that is probably a bit of their brother on your lips there...it is a circle of dependence eh?

Thanks for the tip on the verification business...must admit it has been driving me a little doodle-alley! Like your Haiku, very clever.

There is no guilt like coming face to face with a cow, or worse, a calf, after eating that burger. Someday, I swear I'll reform. ;_) THANK YOU for turning off the stupid word verification that has made me blind at so many sites recently. Deeply appreciated. IMO not many bloggers get enough spam to even make it necessary, and it definitely discourages commenting.

I have raised beef and very much enjoyed my "Barney Burger". Thanks for your comment on my "Snap" blog entry. It made me come back to write a 55.

I adore the pictures of the calf and of the cows! I like burgers and steaks way too much to go vegetarian (guilt guilt), but I do draw the line at veal or lamb or anything that comes from the young. I won't buy it. I can't do it.

I thought your hai...hki...well, you know...were good! And the 55 even better!

Ooo, suspicious bias. So mysterious.

Your photos, as always are clear and crip with 1000 words+ in each.

Yes, haiku great too.

I started thinking about what you had written, Margaret, at the top of this post and want to make sure I understand you. Are you talking about the new RECAPTCHA words for verification? If so, you may be interested in this video that I saw a couple months ago on why the two-word captchas are so important. It totally changed my mind about the new system. In fact, I was actually hoping Blogger would one day start using it.

Nice!

Your syllable counts are dead-on, but like many of the participants, you appear to have a little trouble juxtaposing your images with the aid of a cut or turning point.

Thanks for contributing!
