Magpie Tales #85 "Painted Wings"

Painted Wings

Grounded and heavy
elephants can't fly
and neither can I
as long as I cling
to comforting negativity.

An inner calm I seek
and try to harmonize
my fears
with God's will.

I am the artist of my life,
but I did not apply
the first stroke.

A Creator far wiser than I
drew my lines
and colored me
with love.

Generously, I brush
positive colors upon my canvas
and watch
as the elephant soars
on wings painted bright.

I can't take all the credit for this poem.  Laurie Justus Pace, an AMAZING artist (HERE is one of her many blogs) wrote a blog post today and it's words really struck a chord.  It is "here".

This is for Magpie Tales #85.

Interesting I just saw the whimsy of the elephant at first - I'm glad that elephants can fly if only in the imagination

"Comforting negativity": there is some truth to that, it can become a bad habit that dims the available light. Thanks, Margaret.

Thank you all! "Comforting Negativity" is my favorite line here as it almost seems counter to one another but I think many people wallow in the excuse of complaining ... they don't have to do anything to make it "right". Being positive all the time, I think, is a much harder route to take....

I really enjoyed your poem ... that negativity has a way of creeping in at times, doesn't it? Your positive colors made it go away.
