New Year Haiku (5,7,5), photo 93 & 94/365

Festivities cease
Resolutions established
New Year unsullied

The above was a scene from Christmas day and I remember thinking how fresh, how new everything looked.  As we begin this new year of 2011, I like to think we are all "marching" forward with a fresh slate with new possibilities to explore.

The above haiku and the second photo are my entries to January's "In the Moment" Challenge.   The second photo is also my entry for this week's challenge for "Weekend Reflections" (#67)

Your first photo and accompanying poem delight me!

Rinkly Rimes, Thank you for that comment! I really have been trying lately to expand my subjects, to even get a few abstract shots in now and then. I will very soon be taking my camera off automatic - let's hope I get more that blurred images! :)

Justine, Your appreciation means a lot as I think your photography is stunning. You set the bar!

Georege, Can you believe it is the same lake I have taken earlier photos of. It does look here like a river. Not sure we will get any more snow, but if we do I will be up early to try and get another shot!

Kim, Thank you for visiting. I was going for a walk with the kids and hadn't even got off our friend's front porch when I saw this photo opportunity. My kids thought it was funny - I had to really hurry and snap the shot, though, as they were headed for the playground.

Here's to the new slate but first I must clear up the old mess.

Happy New Year, Margaret

Happy new year, Margaret. The second photo is pure poetry.

Friko, I love your sense of humor and wit - but so very true. We must purge!

Lorenzo, thank you. When I go on my walks I always pause here and so far have never tired of this little lake. I want to catch the turtles that rest upon these logs catching the sun someday. They slide off upon hearing any noise...

Perfect use of the prompt as always! I love it.

Debby - you have some amazing photo's. I too am learning Photoshop -- well, have yet to crack the book open. Hopefully I will start tomorrow. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Patty Ann - thank you for your support, as usual! Looks like you had a wonderful holiday with your family.

It does indeed feel like there's a clean slate before us, Margaret, at the beginning of this year. And you, my dear, are already off and running, I see!

It's a beautiful winter wonderland! Great shot!

Ginnie, yes, I seem to be as the kids are back in school! Or at least most. One we are watching closely - we fear she might have appendicitis - not fun if she does.

James - Thank you. "Winter Wonderland" - that is something not usually said of central NC!
