September's Overture
Late August finds me
reclining porch-side,
for there's no other way
to sit in an Adirondack chair -
savoring chardonnay,
appreciating a symphony
of crickets (bliss high -n- low)
and katydids (rather raspier)
frogs, the occasional dog
paying homage
to the renaissance around the corner.

What a sweet poem. Love all those sounds of August!
Savoring nature is blissful indeed!
Lovely poem...I know this overture well! Janice (Ontheland)
I remember making some Adirondack chairs when I was young. I think I like making them more than sitting in them. Now I prefer a straighter back when sitting.
I am with you in that wonderful moment of bliss. The sound of crickets always brings me joy--frogs too.
I love those moments... especially love a chair where there is only one (comfortable) way to sit.
I'm right there with you, breathing in the last of summer. Nice!
Savoring in those moments. Thank you for this sip.
I love all the sounds as well, especially the description of the symphony. The crickets are my own favorite this time of year. And a great title as well - wonderful piece!
Savoring chardonnay and enjoying the sounds of a summer winding down. Truly blissful.
Ah...loved this....I love such moments!!
There is something calming about sitting in an adirondack chair. I can hear the gentle songs of nature.
Dog days of August made even more relaxing by your words.
This is so restful to read...Love the sights, sounds of August ~
