The Brooklyn Bridge |
What great monuments man has made
that drape across East River's breadth -
incandescent portraits
of fortune, finesse, and fearlessness.
King's county bows its crown come morn,
Manhattan curtsies (but not demurely) mid cocktail hour -
such ceremony sliced
by tugs, ferries, ships, and boats
all beneath two gothic arches,
a cathedral suspended
clasping two together.

Nicely done your canvas of words; great textures and colour
much love...
I was just admiring those arches yesterday. A lovely place, indeed...
I have never been to NYC. I feel it is one of the few things i haven't done that I really wish i had, or would still do.
Ahhh, love this, Margaret!
Your words take us there.
A monument to a monument with some feelings thrown in. Well done.
You have given the Brooklyn Bridge a wonderful tribute. I love the ceremony being sliced by boats.
Excellent! I love this. My sister-in-law lives in Brooklyn...I have never been to NY but do hope to see it!
Beautiful tribute to the bridge! Love the image too.
You are right--there is something very cathedral like about all those cables. I am going for the mid-cocktail hour! Thanks, Margaret. K.
