"Goldenrod"

 Goldenrod

Banished from genteel yards,
I find her plumes quite glorious -

blazing boldly with arching heaviness,
pendulously draping gravel path.

Inviting me

to linger like the Monarch butterfly
fluttering and flirting upon Autumnal breeze -

to seek asylum in radiant fields
of magical golden fleece.

I find that weeds often so much more enchanting... maybe I'm a butterfly.

I love it when so-called 'weeds' do this:
'blazing boldly with arching heaviness,
pendulously draping gravel path.'

A butterfly asylum. Sounds touch-n-go...but I'd like to touch it. Goldenrod.

You know it is so pretty--I think I am a little allergic though. Lovely poem, Margaret. k.

I know so many people don't appreciate the weeds, but I do, especially when they are the last blooms to come out before the winter.
