"October"

October

Each year you shed your corset,
tilt sunflower head, wink.

Display contours of peaks and valleys
I love.  Intimately hold my hand,
invite me to suckle from swollen breast
all the nourishment I need -

bolster me for November's
stinging slap.

Your beginning is brilliant - love the whole thing and agree with the ending.

Ah, November's slap....it comes too soon....but the sweetness of October lingers in your words.

This is delightful, Margaret. I wasn't expecting that stinging slap at the end.. but it gives a very good idea of cold weather's approach.

Love how you lure us into the nurture and then remind us that it will end soon enough, and harshly. Fantastic.

October has her own sort of nourishment, indeed. There is still enough of the summer in her to feed us that last sip before the land turns silent.Loved both words and pics here, Margaret.

October as supple, ample and bountiful mother. Beautiful how life’s seasons offer sustenance and fortitude. I come away from your words with a deeper awareness of the comforts hiding in plain sight.

This reads like a courtship. A sensuous, delicious courtship.
