"Seeing"

"Seeing"

Snow crystals dust my mitten-tip
their future dismal,
shine but a few minutes more -

no chance of becoming.

A fragile existence
we humans often face,
become crestfallen -

melt into indifference

until a restless spirit
stones our lack of will
with hope -

gifts us into seeing
minutes, hours, days
as swirling possibilites.

And we dream.

This is for "Imaginary Garden with Real Toads - Get Listed with Kenia Cris"  Click on over if you want to see her word list from a science fiction book about a post-apocaliptic world "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

Well, I thought I was a goner with this selection of words, but somehow I scraped together 55 words - and that means…. this is also linked with Flash Friday 55 over at G-Man's blog, "Mr. Knowitall".  Doors open Thursday at 8:00 pm.

many times it takes getting there you know....til that spark that pushes us ever forward in that hope and possibility....

it is a gift....so often we loose sight of those mysteries around us...when we let our guard down enough to see them, it is something to savor.

Margaret....
Snow flakes are one beautiful subject that doesn't bother me when they die.
What a fantastically poetic observation.
You are such a gift.
Thanks for playing, sorry about your Bunco misfortunes, and have a Kick Ass Week-End

I really like this, Margaret--it begins quietly but just absolutely riveted me with "..until a restless spirit
stones our lack of will
with hope -" and the ending is soft and perfect. One of my instant favorites of yours.

You managed to scrape together some excellent words. I can feel the cold at my fingertips even as the snow melts.

well done, Margaret. As per usual I overdosed on the list, whereas you are both precise and lyrical. as to the musical, I haven't heard of it, but will see if Youtube has it - thanks for the heads up ~

Life is fragile but contains some beautiful moments and sights such as a horse standing stalwart in the snow. Lovely work, Margaret.

Beautiful photo, Margaret! I like how the tone picks up in the second half of your poem and everything seems more promising and optimistic.

Each day is a new possibility indeed, and I really think that one has to always take the time to dream.....keeping hope alive!

Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Getting stoned" lol. Seriously though, this is so true, and something many of us (at least in the north) can use about now.

Simply gorgeous writing--a quiet meditation

There are different kinds of blindness depending on which lens one looks through: weary resignation, paralyzing angst, blunt torpor, the weight of regret.
You visit them without much weight and pivot to what it means to truly see.

“Seeing” is a poem I will return to for refreshment. Or just maybe remember the image of the horse in the snow in my mind’s eye.
