The Mag #169 "Lighthouse Dandelions"

Lighthouse Dandelions by Jamie Wyeth
Lighthouse Dandelions

As dusks' indigo fingers descend,
little lions roar discontent,
lance-shaped leaves no match
for summer sky's churning monsters
billowing, rumbling, raging,
toward wave-washed shore,
scattering mighty warriors
to ferocious winds.

Beneath a lustrous glow
defeat is not acknowledged
but challenged with a pledge
to come back stronger,
greater.  A legion ready to fight
and hold back the night.

This if for The Mag #169.  The artwork above is this week's prompt.

My yard is a virtual battleground where those roaring lions are free from harm. If I were a dandelion farmer I could retire early! Love the poem.

i like the determination in that second part...to come back and light the darkness...and the indigo fingers and little lions roaring were nice touches as well..smiles.

The first four lines set the tone, and the last completes this story.
"A legion ready to fight
and hold back the night."
Love that!!

Great minds think alike, huh?!!

Thanks for the comments and the ideas. Wondering what program you used through Apple for the book (I know can make in IPhoto, but wasn't aware of anything else). Will check into setting up a Networked blog. Your thoughts and kind words are always very much appreciated! :-)

Beautifully written, as usual ! I love the "little lions" line. It is a battle, one I must say the dandelions usually win. They do come in "legions". Do you still have your horses and are you enjoying them? Mickie :)

Those dandy lions can roar all they want as far as I'm concerned. How can you say no to their bright moment of glory!

They sure come back stronger - and in legions! LOL
