Seventh place, dead last,
sixth, fourth, two thirds,
smile upon her face, unforced;
perseverance, a beautiful canter,
a winning smile,
and their first blue ribbon.
Matches the one
she carries in her heart.

wonderful!
agreed.success sure tastes sweet..especially when you have worked hard for it.
How lovely.
So good to see them compete without going ott.
Lovely way to begin my day ... happy belated anniversary!!
Wonderful that she had the blue ribbon before even entering the competition!
oh yes...lovely feeling....
true character / the mark of a champion
You were on my mind as I was driving through horse country
I hope all is well with you and your family
Love and blessings to you!!!!
Love the blue ribbon in her heart much more than the one that will hang in her room. It's that confidence, that smile from within, that makes a winner... not the actual win/lose. A truly competent woman on the rise. Love the photo, the iconic black and white. That and sepia are my favorites. Amy
How apt - I watched the Badminton Horse trial this afternoon...
Aww... what a great sport!
What great character! I love the photo - both horse and rider undaunted.
aww! i love this!
I only won one, (that I recall; it was so precious to me! I do not even know which class!) tell her to just look for the good- and it sounds like she has been!
Enjoyed that - and really liked the first stanza list, and that 'dead last'. Wonderful opening line, in fact.
Oh this is so lovely, Margaret, as is your pride in her. "the one she carries in her heart". Beautiful.
Terrific!
The sweet smell of success is invigorating. Nicely Marge!

How beautiful this is, Margaret, and how very proud you must be of her.
Delightful! And the black and white photo is perfect.

That's a pretty horse, Margaret. I rode a horse to high school. I would have worn a ribbon in my heart had my Min won a ribbon (Minnie was my horse). You are so very creative to think of it this way.
..
its not reaching perfection that makes us perfect but, the path that we take and persist in which makes us perfect ~ Applause to you both!
Lovely photo and poem. Very nice cadence. I also really like your anniversary poem. Many congratulations! k.
