Tenaciously vigilant
my woodland warrior
bids farewell
to blackberry winter
as spring's pungent scent
ripples winter's flags of gold,
spies crimson colored drama
at the birdhouse,
sniffs cadmium charm
amidst umber, buff, and ochre,
joyous
Mother Earth is rousing!

(blackberry winter - a cold snap that happens in late spring (OK- this might be wishful thinking, but 65 degrees and sunny feels mighty nice today.)

What a sweetheart!
He is such a cutie! And, look at the cardinal boys squabbling!
Beautiful pictures ... thanks for sharing :-)
Gimli is one lucky dog to have all that and YOU at his fingertips! Fabulous images, Margaret.
Gorgeous photos, Margaret. Gimli is such an excellent name for this little man.
My dear Margaret...
The photo of your sweet companion stole my heart; and the garden scenes welcome the winter-weary reader. But the best part of this post is the color-filled post, which piqued my imagination and left me wandering your land.
What an adorable little furry face!!!
Neat! Imagining the rise of spring through a dog voice.
What a precious little pup! I love all your photographs. And your poem is excellent. I especially like the first, second, and fifth couplets. Well done! ~andy
We had a lovely spring like weather last Sunday, most unusual ~ And He is cute among the woodland and blooms ~ Beautiful pictures as always Margaret ~
What a great dog, Margaret, and a lovely poem as well!
I do hope your spring is near! What a cute dog and nice photos. I did mine about my dog as well.
Beautiful pictures. Love the poem. I have been winter's best fan this year, but I'm even ready for the ground to thaw and the snows change to rain.
for us in the tropics, winter is quite welcome.but i love the blooming brightness of spring.
What an adorable pup! My dogs love being outdoors in the spring also. I love all your photos. I'm ready for spring!

I really like this! I understand the connection.
drama at the birdhouse! yay, spring is nearly sprung.
Beautiful photos, Margaret. Of course, I love the little dog face with the wild rose, and the beauties at the birdhouse. I was sinking into grumpiness, if not actual depression, and you made my day! Thanks!

And Kay. You make my day with your travel photos!!
I can almost taste that poem with my eyes! And I wasn't familiar with the term 'Blackberry Winter'. Wonderful words and gorgeous images Margaret!
How wonderfully your words describe spring.
That is a cool name and a really handsome pup...and the photos and poem are to die for. Made me feel all springy inside, and believe me, I can use that lately.
So nice and pretty, your pooch. He knows it is prudent to stop and smell the azaleas. Ours are not in bloom yet, they are late bloomers.
