Cradled - Friday Flash 55

Cradled

Cradled,
you first arrived
within devoted arms
of a little mommy
so eager to love
her "little Muffy".

I spared you that,
named you Moxie,
watched you two scamper
throughout the seasons,
laughing, barking, confiding,
listening, protecting.

We said goodbye today,
couldn't help but notice
into each other's eyes
you gazed, within her lap,
cradled.

Rest in Peace, dearest Moxie "Muffy"

I HAD to do something with all this emotion - can't remember the last time I have cried so much.  This will also be for Friday Flash 55 - but this is not fiction, it did happen today, January 15 - we lost the very best dog in the world to liver failure.

I wish I could hug you right now .. not a virtual hug, a real hug. The kind of hug that means I care .. and I am so sorry all of you are hurting.

Margaret, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have been there.....twice. Grief is hard when one so loves and IS so loved in return.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your dog, Margaret. There's nothing worse, and the healing comes over time as you remember the best of times.

Thank you, all. This has hit especially hard watching my daughter grieve so. She was so stoic. We had the vet come to our house. My daughter held moxie and when she was "gone" carried her to the cot that took her away. So proud of her devotion and care

Some dogs are just so extra special. They can never be replaced. I've lived this heartbreak too many times, and will live it again before too long.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss. Our pets do so enrich our lives and leave deep fissures upon departure.

My heart is breaking for you, Margaret. I know what it is like to practically not be able to breathe with so much grief over the loss of a beloved pet. Moxie was totally adorable and so obviously loved. May her essence be all around you as you mourn this horrible loss.

So glad you could write about it, Margaret. I have been there, and cried till I don't think there was a drop of liquid left. So hard to watch the last moments like that--I grieve with you and your daughter both. Thanks for sharing the photos of Moxie--she looks like a jewel.

Margaret said...

...thank you ALL! Yes, Joy, she was a jewel and we are still tearing up and grieving. She left us too soon...
