Endless
Triumphant, glorious,
this season
of fading color,
of fallen leaves, crunching
beneath my quest
for breathlessness.
She caresses my face,
cleansing, cascading, swirling,
as I find a tentative foothold,
listen to her voice,
drifting unafraid, elusive,
toward infinity,
wishing this season
of letting go, of quieting,
of rejuvenation,
could settle deep
within me,
endlessly embraced.

Took my breath away...stunning.
By the way, you shamed me into editing that post... :) Thnx.
I enjoy your lovely fall photos so much! And I agree with the spirit of wishing the sweetness of the season would last for ever. Thanks for posting!
After I blinked my eyes a few times and could see again after looking at the beautiful top photo, I was just lulled by this, Margaret. Smooth as water over stones. I especially liked
'...crunching
beneath my quest
for breathlessness..'
You really bring the season into our minds and hearts.
nice...what a peaceful verse...much like sitting by that creek, it hope this season does settle in for you...its a beautiful thing and you capture that well...
The way I'm feeling today, all I have to do is stand up to feel breathlessness. But leaf crunching is fun.
Margaret Bednar...
A cornicopia of Art and Beauty!
I wish Fall could stay forever.
Loved your Ode to Autumn 55
Thanks for playing, you are a Shining Star in a dreary sky, have a Kick Ass Week-End
So soothing to the nerves... beautiful!
Just beautiful, Margaret.

Beautifully done :-)
I will not whine, just sit here quietly stifling tears...because I know soon, all to soon the cold will settle into my bones and won't release me for months. But a nice piece of poetry so if I were to describe it as torturous I would mean physically not rhythmically.
What a beautiful rumination. I love fall too...this is wonderful, and the picture is really spectacular. My favorite phrase is, 'quest
for breathlessness.'
Elusive sums it up! also quieting- I would be happier if rejuvenation were
stronger! Lovely pictures as always-
thanks.
It's an interesting contrast that the trees are slowing down and settling in while we get busier preparing for the holidays. I agree - a little bit of fall settling would do us all some good inside, Margaret.
I love your poem for the season, mirrors Hedge's and I agree, G-Man outdid himself this week. Your last stanza is like an exhalation, a letting go and laying down.
Margaret, this is incredibly beautiful ... autumn in all of its quiet, introspective glory.
Winter really is a time of cleansing, at least in northern climes where there is a winter. I never really thought about it in this way before. Those in northern climes get a fresh start every spring while those in the tropics are constantly besieged by parasites unseen.
Beautiful
The inner peace and hope this describes is exactly how I am feeling about the change of seasons this year.
Your photography is so beautiful, Margaret.
Such a serene poem! Seasons like that are certainly worth trying to hold on to, if only we could. Really liked this, Margaret.
Beautiful photography. Your poem captures the gentle music of the river.
That's really beautiful Margaret!
And the photo is also amazing
Once I could get past your beautiful header photo, I enjoyed your poem!
