Olive Hue Designs for d'Verse "Out the Sketchbook" original poem 12/17/2011 revised 8/21/2012 |
A ratty red dress
makes everything right,
wraps about me
like a mother's embrace.
With my pretty red dress
I don't feel alone.
Some buy their days happy,
carry enormous umbrellas,
yet fail to keep
discord at bay.
Triumphant arms I raise,
downpour, thanked.
Joy and harmony, mine,
beauty, faded and old
from an alley box,
dented and dirty.
My treasure found
at the end of the rainbow.
by Margaret Bednar, Art Happens 365, poem revised (original title: Silver Lining) 8-21-2012
This is for Poets United Vice Verse #12 - This weeks words are: Harmony/Discord & Triumph/Fail (I used triumphant: hope that is OK)

Your poem filled my heart with joy. I've been working with some heavy subjects and this is just the sweet burst of sunshine I needed! It's like doing a happy dance... thank you for sharing.
A pair of dancing feet in a red dress. How do you like that! Nice write Marge!
Hank
She's making her own happy... Love it! :)
Red dresses- hmm, I do like your poem
though-the beginning especially. :)
Margaret, this was touching and beautiful. I loved especially the lines:
With my pretty red dress
I don't feel alone.
We all need to find the kind of joy you expressed in this poem!
Very sweet...I like that she's so pleased with that red dress...love that artwork too!
Margaret,
I love the joy in this poem! It fits the picture to a 't!'
I love the image of a "ratty" (comfortable) "red" (bright, confident) dress. Lovely write. I love that photo/painting too.
Beautiful, positive, life-affirming poem, and wonderful illustration to accompany it. Lovely to read!
lovely! I don't have a red dress (not really fond of dresses), but I'd love to join the dance through the rain nonetheless.
