dVerse - Meeting the Bar - Impressionist Writing "Noble Warrior"

Noble Warrior

Bright eyed, a red clad warrior
pauses amidst a field of swaying gold
and Victorian lace,

noble nose pressed close
to one, then another.

Babbling brook
sings her song, beckons
him to abandon quest,

nearby boulders loom large
for exploration,

but not before presenting
a "sunrise" flower
to his queen.

This was written for dVerse "Meeting the Bar:  Impressionistic writing".  We were to write quickly, try and capture the shade and light of the subject, try to capture the mood, the atmosphere, adding only those details important to the whole.    Well, I wrote this in five minutes... you be the judge if I captured the rest :)  FYI:  specifically a Ninja Warrior ... I read this to my son and he wanted to make SURE I specified :)

"Here, Mommy"

Oh I'd say so, definitely, Margaret.(meeting the prompt) So many Impressionists painted children and flowers--it fits right in thematically, and then you capture that child's spirit so cleanly, the innocence and indeed, all of what makes us noble, though its harder to find sometimes as we age--and of course, a ninja! Absolutely gorgeous photos to work from don't hurt, either. Enjoyed it very much.

How I love a warrior who must smell the flowers, be distracted by a brook, explore the rocks and give his lady a sunflower. Noble, indeed! And the photos are marvelous too.

The pictures are almost like a painting in themselves. Such a precious capture of your son in the flowers and then I bet it melted your heart that he interrupted his Ninja duties to give you (his queen) a flower. Awww that is a gorgeous and you painted this fleeting moment exactly as the prompt called for. Inspired, indeed!
