dVerse & Friday Flash 55 - "A Fable Twist"

Fables, The Deluxe Edition Cover - Google Image
A Fable Twist

Snow in modern times isn't as white,
her prince, charming?   Not quite!
Boy Blue has a tragic tale to tell,
Goldilocks?  We could say she fell.
Red Riding Hood's grown up,
The three pigs, upon Wolf they might sup!
Fable Land's invaded, New York they reside.
With a bit of magic they might just survive.

This is for dVerse, Poetics:  "We're Going Comic".  My son introduced me to the Bill Willingham's "Fables" (Vertigo) series and I am almost through the fist Deluxe Edition.  I never thought I would be intrigued by a comic story, but this one has me making a monthly trip to the comic store with my son.  It is not for reading out loud to the little ones, that's for sure.  HERE is a wikipedia explanation of Bill Willingham's comic book series.  I mixed a bit of Book Two in with the above poem...  I missed the "link up" but still click on the above dVerse link if you would like to read their poetry on "take a comic character and write your own poem or create your very own comic"

There is an ABC series "Once Upon a Time" and this is NOT "Fables" by Bill Willingham.  Following is an interview CBR did with the author of "Fables" regarding this topic:  HERE

This will also be linked up Thursday at 8pm to Mr. Know-it-Alls' "Flash Friday 55"... a story in EXACTLY 55 words... no more, no less!

You missed the link as well huh, me too!
Great effort here and I love that you put some explanation behind it to help the reader to understand. Not heard of Fables before, but since they only came about in 2002, its no wonder that an aging hippy hasn't heard of them is it.

Cute modernization of the old storybook characters. A+

Since so many of the originals were truly scary, this sounds like a welcome improvement.
