In Tandem #14 "Securely Wrapped"

Image provided by Jinksy for "In Tandem"
Securely Wrapped

Colorfully, boldly
this counterpane I stitched;
once youthful fingers
anticipating
love's journey.

Beneath these vibrant patches,
wrapped, secure, and safe,
our arms encircled
as we dreamed, celebrated,
and wept.

Faithful tufted stitches
faded and thinned,
have persevered
and now

matronly fingers
pull its warmth
over your fragile figure
as your dear, sweet face I cherish.

Well, that's a bit of a tear jerker, if ever I saw one! Thanks for hopping on the tandem again. :) ♥

Thanks Jinksy for the prompt. I almost didn't make it. Perhaps it is a bit sad, but I meant for it to be sweet. I'm trying to write "happy" not "sad". Ha! I hope you didn't take her husband as dead... just sleeping and she is tenderly taking care of him....

Very sweet and tender.
Thanks for your clarification in answering the comment above; I thought the husband had passed away also.
Glad to hear that's not the case. :)

Thanks for another Friday 55!
Mine's here. :)

Margaret you are so very talented.... I am happy that I found you and am following..... What a beautiful tender love story this is.... Young love is certainly wonderful, but so easy and free, as when youthful fingers can only anticipate the journey ahead. The real, powerful emotion comes at the other end of that journey when you can look back at all of those years, trials and troubles and still say "I love and cherish you." That, dear Margaret, is beauty in life. Truly a magnificent poem....
