The Seasons of Love
Predictable, love is not.
What's around the bend, unsure.
If love were a season to select
Which one would you choose?
Passionate Winter?
Quite a swaggering affair.
A tempest one minute,
Beautifully serene the next.
Invigorating Spring?
Full of hope and wonder.
Everything exciting and new,
Instilling life and energy.
Languid Summer?
Warmth seeping into the soul.
Agreeable and content,
Wrapped in comfortable silence.
Sensitive Fall?
Bursting at the seams, ready to
Explore and live life to its fullest.
Not wasting a minute, full speed ahead.
For most of us, love is a journey,
A back and forth of the four.
Truly blessed if we experience the
Beauty and challenge of each.

The above is for "Magpie Tales". The top winter scene is the photo prompt. Please click HERE to be transported to either join or read other submissions. I also submitted it to One Stop Poetry's - "One Shot Wednesday".
And speaking of love, who wouldn't want the faithful AND forgiving love of a dog... This is for "Partially Seen in January" and "Black & White Wednesdays."
...and the following photo is for "The Creative Exchange". I have always loved this silhouette and love the fact that Canadian geese mate for life (it kind of fits in with the theme of the poem). One of our favorite family movies is "Fly Away Home" (1996). It stars Jeff Daniels and is about a father, daughter and a flock of Canadian Geese.

oh what a wonderful shot of your dog, absolutely brilliant, I love this
This silhouette of the geese is fantastic and so lovely to think that this couple might have been flying to this lake for years (and hopefully for many more)
nice shadow and lighting in the last shot
I love love LOVE this!!! Ya know, anyone that can use the word "languid" in a piece of poetry and make it become three dimensional is pure genius!!!! I loved this!!! Bookmarking!!!
Lovely silhouette shot of the Canada Geese!
I really like the way you described the seasons of love. Great pics as well!
I just loved your poem Margaret, and you are so right, that we are indeed lucky if we get to experience all four seasons of love. Beautifully done.
Thank you so much for sharing this photo at The Creative Exchange this week. I have always loved the fact that these geese mate for life.

Lovely poem. I love all seasons but summer - too hot!
Thank you, everyone for enjoying this post. I am int he process of visiting your blogs this late morning while enjoying my coffee. So many well done and enjoyable blogs... Inspiring and entertaining. What a great way tom enjoy my morning.
Alright. First: Doggy! Ahem, that said, a fine journey you've led us through along the seasons of love...would that we all could experience the lot of them, and in the case of some, would that we could all experience a taste of love at all. Charming piece, though, with beautiful descriptive quality.
Enjoy how the seasons project nuances of relationships and the concept of love through poetry. Nice One Shot!
nice...can we truly define love, contain it within a season or let it flow in its own way through all seasons...
Hm, what a good correlation between the seasons and the many faces of love!
Cianphelan, Dustus, Brian & Dianne - Really appreciate the feedback. Your poetry is remarkable and even though I am proud of my fledgling attempts, I still am striving for a bit more mystery and descriptive qualities in my writing. Thank you for visiting.
Thoughtful, solid flow poem.
Steven - thank you! I truly have to work at it - but I love the process.
