IGWRT Kerry's Wednesday Challenge "Dreams"

Photo courtesy of my daughter, texture applied by me.

Dreams

I remember a girl with yellow daisies
tucked behind a dainty ear.
Grass tickled her pink painted toes
as starry eyed she spun, unbridled.
Tresses caught in the corner of her mouth,
face flushed with hope and sun.

Mirrors don't lie.  She let me go.  Doubt,
fear, time, mark her unrecognizable.

And what about you?  Have you
stopped dancing with me, too?

This is for Imaginary Garden With Real Toad's - Kerry's Wednesday Challenge, Breaking the Fourth Wall.    Can the fourth wall be broken for rhetorical or dramatic effect?  I tried.

I am also linking up with Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday (top photo) applying the texture "kirsten".  The theme was "dream".  How coincidental was this as I wrote the poem before I checked the prompt.

Kim Klaussen's Texture Tuesday & IGWRT's Music w/ Marian "The Pick-up Line"

My iPhoto improved with Kim Klaussen's "Oh My" Texture
The Pick-up Line

A Gelding's Boast

Back in the day
when I ran with the colts,
I was an "Outlaw",
untamed vigor,
no cowboy could control...

A Mare's Thoughts

"They're all alike..."

by Margaret Bednar, October 12, 2012

This is linked with Kim Klaussen's "Texture Tuesday" & IGWRT's "Music with Marian" subject"  Outlaw/Crazy.    I don't think this is exactly what the prompt was looking for, but it is what I could do with the time I have available today.

This is a photo of the new stables my horse, Oberon, is boarding.  I sold my horse, Sebastian, to my instructor/trainer and they are now at a different barn as well.  I am really excited, though, as I may be trail riding with Sebastian & James this weekend.

Kim Klaussen's Texture Tuesday and dVerse Open Link Night "Steadfast"

Photography by M.Bednar

Steadfast

For my soul cherubs ceaselessly pray,
whilst from me, gratitude's seldom received.

Follow, I try, the "straight and narrow",
hope angelic guidance lends a helping hand.

Upon my death, I plead, deserved rest
achieved for steadfast, weary wings.

These photos are for Kim Klaussen's Texture Tuesday, this week's theme "something orange".  I used her Dream It 2 Texture and in PhotoShop I used "multiply" for the portrait and "pin light" for the  figure.  The poem I reworked from a similar one I wrote over a year ago.  The statues I photographed at Biltmore in May of 2011.

Kim Klaussen's "Texture Tuesday" & a Poem "Latham Park School"

Latham Park School

Playful frocks and
side button boots,

pause for a moment
in 1898

as Willa Cather publishes "The Way of the World",
Roosevelt becomes a Rough Rider,
the Battle of San Juan Hill bloodies history,
Annie Oakley offers McKinely fifty "lady sharpshooters"
George Gershwin is born,
Sherlock Holmes rushes to print,
Russian Czar expels Jews from his cities,
an automobile reaches 39 mph

with braids in disarray,
bosom friends resume recess

a new century
cradled in their hands.

This is for Kim Klassen's "Texture Tuesday" Back to School Edition.  I used "paper script II"  Click on over and see what she is all about... on-line classes and "freebie" downloads.  It is a lot of fun!

My grandmother, Marguerite Hutchins is in the center.

I was going to write about their clothes, but somehow the poem became something else. If vintage clothing is of interest to you, please check HERE .  It is a fabulous fashion site - I have never come across one with so many beautiful vintage clothes.  I have it set for "children's fashion", but you can browse around as you wish.

Texture Tuesday with Kim Klaussen

This is linked with "Texture Tuesday" and I used one layer of "dream-it".  Kim Klaussen offers on-line courses that allow one to do wonders with photography.  I haven't even scratched the surface and hope to take another class soon.

Helen Keller is a personal hero of mine.   Her quotes are numerous and one can glean abundant wisdom from them.  My very first theater play I attended as a little girl was "The Miracle Worker" and of course, I have read her autobiography.

Kim Klaussen's Texture Tuesday "Look Down"

Photo taken at Antietam Civil War Battleground

Look Down

Look down, look closely,
for shadows do whisper,
flowers do weep.

Look down, listen intently,
yesteryear has answers
for those who seek.

by Margaret Bednar, Art Happens 365, August 14, 2012

This is for Kim Klassen's "Texture Tuesday" challenge and I used the texture "Dream-it" using a bit over 80% opacity.  She also threw out a challenge to use the prompt "Look Down".  If you are interested in participating, there is a prize at the end of the week for one lucky person:  a copy of Elevate the Everyday! (a Photographic Guide to Picturing Motherhood).

"Beneath the Magnolia Tree"

Beneath the Magnolia Tree

Alluring fragrance
cloaks my senses with desire
my thoughts full of you,
I anticipate your kiss
'neath the magnolia tree.

Margaret Bednar, Art Happens 365, Originally posted June 22, 2011

This is a poem I resurrected as these magnificent blooms are just starting to appear.  Each one a work of art.  I need to grab my tripod each morning and evening and get true crisp shots.  These aren't bad as I had to hurry and snap with three dogs and countless kids in tow.

and a treatment using Kim Klaussen's "Chase" texture below and linked to her "Texture Tuesday" weekly challenge.  If anyone is ever interested in learning about textures, she is the first person I would recommend.  She has wonderful internet classes.

Hope
I gently kiss
send it parachuting
upon the day's soft breeze
anticipate it will bring
true passionate love
one day, my
way.

Beware... don't say you haven't been warned!   When the young ladies are playing "He loves me, he loves me-not" with flower petals, they can also try and blow ALL the seeds off a dandelion "globe".  It's said that if they do, than they are loved passionately by someone...

* * * * *

This is linked to "Texture Tuesday's"  I am playing with Kim Klaussen's Textures.  This one is "Oh My".  I used Photo Shop CS5 to play with it:  used the "Luminosity" layer set at 57% and further tweaked my photo by fiddling with the hue/saturation, exposure, vibrance, and curve features.

Kim has many internet classes over the internet which I plan on taking the beginning of the next school year.  Until then, I will just ... play.  But if you are interested, I believe registration is still open.
