Gypsy Herb
Adaptable
as from kitchen garden,
sedentary, you fled
a chthonic fate
of chopped and diced
upon linoleum.
Scattered gypsy-like
to roam 'cross field
and meadow,
wildly nomadic,
you slumber 'neath alabaster
and periwinkle sky,
bedazzle orangey butterflies
with promise of
idyllic, endless peace.
Charmed, I breath in patience,
your magical bohemian spell
ubiquitously fragrant;
a bit of serendipity I share
as arms and wings
in perfect synchronicity
spread toward sacred,
become sisters, rejoice
in your voice of hopeful silence.

This is for Imaginary Garden with Real Toads "An Ink-Stained Word List". There were 30 favorite words shared by poets a few days ago and I used 21 of them, including the bonus word "chthonic".
This is beautiful... You have used the words well !!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this, Margaret. The entire poem is calming, and I enjoyed the ending especially...rejoicing in a voice of hopeful silence.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, we were on the same wavelength alright. You have used the word list perfectly!

Great use of some of my favourite words in a grand theatre.
ReplyDeletePetals and ashes
Dust to the wind
Wherever she blows
I love the sense of the earth and heaven, material and spirit, meeting here in the herb's essence. You made the word list work well for you, Margaret. And of course, gorgeous photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a tender lovely poem, and delightful photos as well!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you used the words from the list - your combinations were fresh and sharp and the photos a perfect accompaniment.
ReplyDeleteThis is magically crafted...such a light feeling flows through the entirety and I just love the echo of the imagery, the paralleled rejoicing of the butterfly and human...so very gorgeous. Beautiful, Margaret. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem, Margaret ... enchanting, line by line leading to the last line, my favorite.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and uplifting ~
ReplyDeleteI specially like the last two stanzas ~
I love the alabaster and periwinkle sky.........the promise of peace, the hopeful silence. You transported me into spring.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I love "bedazzle orangey butterflies" and "Charmed, I breath in patience,
ReplyDeleteyour magical bohemian spell" (but "breath" should be "breathe")

ReplyDeleteLove your photos as always...there is an enchanting feel to this and freedom.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, this is awesome. You've used so many of the words, so seamlessly.
ReplyDeleteI especially love:
"Charmed, I breath in patience,
your magical bohemian spell"
I love both the idea of breathing in patience, and the thought that it's a rowdy ruse, a magic spell. Lovely.
