Jilted
December slants
her golden gaze,
heavy upon somnolent fields,
mumbling a promise
of steadfastness.
My tarnished heart
enjoys her fickle affection,
knowing full well
she'll soon be lured
by another's desire
further south,
leaving me to endure
January's loveless embrace,
her westerly wind caressing
with long frigid fingers.
